About this file
This is a sample size calculator Excel spreadsheet template designed for use by Independent Evaluators assessing Electrical Corporation initiatives. The calculator helps determine appropriate sample sizes for verification activities, with built-in parameters including a 1.96 confidence level, 90% sample proportion, and margins of error of 5% for focus initiatives and 10% for non-focus initiatives. The tool includes minimum threshold requirements of 15 samples and maximum field verification samples of 80.
The calculator requires users to input initiative names, population sizes, and select initiative priorities (Focus or Non-Focus) and verification types (Field or Desk) from dropdown menus. The spreadsheet includes fixed input parameters in rows 12-17 that can only be modified by Energy Safety. The tool is designed to handle multiple initiatives simultaneously, allowing users to calculate sample sizes for various projects while adhering to the requirements specified in the Statement of Work (SOW).

Context This Excel file calculates the sample size needed for an initiative, incorporating all guidance stated in the SOW.
How to Use This Excel Follow these instructions to determine the required sample size for an initiative:
1. Enter Initiative Name: Input the name or ID of the initiative in column H.
2. Enter Population Size: Input the population of the initiative in column I. This must be a numeric value.
3. Select Initiative Priority: Choose the priority of the initiative (FOCUS or NON-FOCUS) from the dropdown menu in column J.
4. Select Verification Type: Choose the type of verification (FIELD or DESK) from the dropdown menu in column K.
5. Handling Multiple Initiatives: If you need to calculate sample sizes for more initiatives, list them in columns H (name or ID) and I (Population number). Then, drag down the dropdown selections in columns J, K, and L for each initiative. Ensure that the priority and verification type are selected for each initiative to obtain accurate sample sizes.
Please note that the inputs in rows 12 through 17 are fixed. Only Energy Safety can change these inputs.
