About this file
This document is a technical configuration guide for Chicago Public Schools (CPS) Video Configuration Flat System, specifically detailing step-by-step instructions for setting up a Genetec video surveillance system across school sites. The guide provides comprehensive technical instructions for configuring camera partitions, sites, user management, recording schedules, motion detection settings, and archiving parameters for Axis camera models. Key configuration requirements include creating specific user groups with defined privileges, establishing recording schedules for school days and non-school hours, setting video retention to 30 days, configuring event recordings to capture 4 seconds before and 10 seconds after an event, and ensuring proper firmware updates.
The document emphasizes specific technical standards and best practices for the video surveillance system, such as using the largest disk for video archives, setting continuous recording for exterior cameras, creating a "School Users" group with limited access privileges, and configuring motion detection individually for each camera. The guide provides detailed instructions for Axis camera models, including recommended video quality settings, panoramic view configurations, and PTZ (Pan-Tilt-Zoom) camera home position settings. The configuration is designed to meet CPS Safety and Security specifications, with provisions for future adjustments and standardized approach across school sites.
