About this file

This is a job description attachment for a Request for Proposal issued by a Virginia city to operate senior congregate programs at two senior centers. The RFP seeks qualified proposers to coordinate and manage two senior centers that provide congregate meal programs, with proposers able to submit proposals to operate one or both facilities. Proposers responding to Senior Center II must also propose a viable site capable of serving an average of 60 participants daily. The document establishes staffing requirements for two key positions: a Senior Center Director and a Senior Center Assistant Director/Activities Coordinator.

The Senior Center Director position requires a college degree in Social Work, Gerontology, Recreation, Nutrition, or a related field plus three years of experience, including one year of supervisory experience working with older adults, along with current CPR and First Aid certifications and a Food Manager Certificate obtained within 30 days of hire. The Assistant Director/Activities Coordinator requires a college degree in a related field plus one year of experience working with older adults and the same certifications. Both positions require candidates with experience working with multi-cultural populations and knowledge of aging-related biological, psychological, and social aspects; community resources; public benefits; nutrition; and disease prevention. Essential skills for both positions include management and supervisory principles, program planning and evaluation, interpersonal relationship development, problem solving, oral and written communication abilities, and proficiency with standard computer applications including word processing, internet, email, and Excel.
