About this file

This document is a technical specification section (Section 230800) for the Commissioning of HVAC systems for a federal project. The specification outlines comprehensive requirements for testing, verification, and documentation of HVAC systems, including responsibilities of the Commissioning Authority (CxA) and Contractors. Key testing procedures cover the entire HVAC installation from central equipment through distribution systems, with detailed requirements for testing boilers, refrigeration systems, energy supply systems, distribution systems, and vibration and sound controls.

The specification mandates thorough documentation and verification processes, including preparing construction checklists, completing certificates of readiness and completion, providing test data and inspection reports, and ensuring all HVAC systems, subsystems, and equipment are properly installed, calibrated, and functioning according to contract documents. The testing process involves verifying operational modes, interlocks, control responses, and system performance under various conditions, with provisions for simulated testing when actual design conditions cannot be replicated.
