About this file

This is a Questions and Answers document for a biomedical waste disposal solicitation. The document does not establish specific response dates, award dates, or contract vehicles, but rather clarifies requirements for potential offerors responding to the procurement.

The service requires monthly pickup of approximately two 40-55 gallon containers of biomedical waste, including blood-soaked rags and similar materials, along with up to 20 facility-provided sharps containers. Pricing must be structured as a monthly rate for each month of the fiscal year (October through September) and should include separate pricing for additional containers on an as-needed basis. Proposals must include a signed SF 1449 (page 1) with yearly cost of service pricing on page 4. Historical pickup time at the facility (USP Atwater) has been approximately one hour maximum, depending on the volume of bio-waste. The facility will provide and maintain its own sharps containers. Pickup occurs at the Rear Gate with no entry parameters required; the contractor parks outside and approaches the Rear Gate Officer by foot to advise of the pickup. Pharmaceutical waste disposal is not required. The solicitation excludes hazardous chemical waste and toxic, corrosive, flammable, or reactive chemicals, including chemotherapy waste, disinfectants, solvents, formaldehyde, and lab chemicals.
