About this file

This is a Questions and Answers document addressing bidder inquiries regarding medical waste disposal services for USP Atwater.

The facility requires monthly biomedical waste pickup and disposal services on a fiscal year schedule (October through September). The estimated volume is approximately 2 containers per monthly pickup event, with an additional 20 containers per month requiring disposal, using 40 to 55-gallon containers. Pricing should be structured as a monthly rate for each month of the fiscal year, with separate pricing provided for additional containers beyond the standard pickup. The maximum time required for each pickup is one hour, dependent on the volume of biomedical waste. Pickup will occur at the facility's Rear Gate where the contractor will park outside and contact the Rear Gate Officer on foot; no entry parameters or facility access credentials are required. USP Atwater will provide and maintain its own sharps containers, so the contractor need not supply them.

The solicitation explicitly excludes pharmaceutical waste disposal, including DEA Reverse Distribution protocols for controlled substances. The facility does not require disposal services for hazardous chemical waste, toxic, corrosive, flammable, or reactive chemicals. Specifically excluded waste types include chemotherapy trace waste, disinfectants, solvents, formaldehyde, and laboratory chemicals.
