This applies to all shafts and flanges that make-up the shaft-line.
5. Specification section 33 12 78 2.05 B requires 100% of the weds to be tested. 100 % of the weld test excessive, usually we go with a smaller % like 10% to 25% Magnetic Particle Examination ISO 17638, and 10%- 25% of the welded connection of the center tube to end flanges 0 tested by Ultrasonic Examination in accordance with ISO 17640.
Refer to section 33 12 78 2.05 D.4. If Contractor is awarded the contract, the Contractor can submit a RFI to modify the flange to end plate connection method. This process is done during the Contract phase, not Solicitation phase.
6. Specification section 33 12 78 2.05 D.4 states "Connect shaft flange to end plate with high-strength fasteners." Please confirm the following is acceptable: Use standard EDT threaded nuts and screw-threaded shafts to attach the upper and lower bearings to the screw tube. The quality of these shafts is C45, which is based on DIN EN 10083-2 and AISI 104 standards.
