About this file
This document is Amendment 0002 to Solicitation 140R2026Q0001, issued by the Bureau of Reclamation's Mid-Pacific Region (Northern California Area Office) on January 27, 2026. The solicitation concerns troubleshooting and repair of the brake system at the Shasta Dam Elevator. The amendment extends the submission deadline to Thursday, February 5, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. Pacific Standard Time and requires contractors to acknowledge receipt by submitting a signed Standard Form (SF)-30 with their quote.
The amendment addresses ten questions from prospective offerors regarding elevator and brake system specifications. Key technical details provided include: the elevator is a traction, gearless unit with 10,000-pound capacity, 500 feet per minute speed, and 12 stops; it was originally installed in 2020 with a modernized KTR brake system installed in 2020-2021; the facility operates 40-60 elevator cycles daily for tours, maintenance, and security patrols. The amendment confirms that a mandatory site visit will occur on Wednesday, January 28, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. PST, with registration required via email to efuntanilla@usbr.gov by Tuesday, January 27, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. PST. The facility requires two weeks' notice for maintenance windows and can accommodate 3-4 day outages with advance planning. Contractors must refer to Amendment 0001 for additional technical documentation including equipment specifications, as-built drawings, wiring diagrams, OEM manuals, and historical maintenance logs.
