Contractor questions from emails:
Can you please tell me if the quantities and descriptions are correct on the Project description?
Everything listed is for reference only. As long as whatever you use meets the characteristics of the listed item you are free to find better pricing. Should you find an issue with what’s listed please communicate that with Patty Payne and we will review.
What are the purple and red squares?
There is existing fiber channel in the Administrative Building. The positions that do not have the purple squares show these locations. If the shown position does not have a purple square it already has some channel and these channels can be reused. New cable channel guide should be used at the ceiling level rather than going into the ceiling. Penetrating the ceiling should be avoided.
The red blocks show wall penetrations where you will use some form of sleeve, I list a Grainger
FS201 (referenced on BOM as P26). You are under no obligation to use that specific part, we just ask that if a substitution is made it matches the characteristics of the listed part.
There was also a set of drawings with location marking on them. Should we be using the drawings or the diagrams on the project description?
Questions from the site visit.
Would it be better to move the Corning CCH-02U from its current location, wall mounted, and relocate it to the new rack?
Yes, I agree this would be a good idea. The Corning CCH-02U is typically a rack mounted shelf.
By moving it we will free up more space and it is good to collocate all the network equipment in one space. However, after contacting Corning I was advised that while 23 inch rack brackets can be ordered but the 19 inch brackets are only available with the initial shelf order. Rather than do this we have decided to use a heavy-duty shelf to support the fiber patch panel. Please see the revised SOW for the added steps and drawings.
