About this file

This document is a Questions and Answers record from a site visit conducted on September 8, 2026, regarding kitchen and bathroom remodeling work for five quarters of government housing under the National Park Service (NPS).

The document addresses five contractor inquiries with NPS responses clarifying scope and requirements. Regarding wall demolition, contractors must patch and paint/texture-match any wall areas disturbed by demolition or new installation to match existing finishes, rather than removing all drywall. For cabinet and countertop specifications, contractors must submit product data and cut sheets, finish samples (minimum 4 inches by 6 inches), cabinet layout drawings, and proposed countertop and cabinet colors for NPS approval prior to procurement or installation. Lighting fixture specifications require contractor submission of lighting examples for approval. The bathroom shower/tub requirement specifies installation of a new tub/shower unit with tub and shower faucets, with contractor submission of examples required. An important operational constraint prohibits contractors from occupying government housing during the remodeling work. The responses reference specific contract sections including 1.5.1 for Kitchen Renovations and 1.5.2 for Bathroom Renovations, and Item 10-Submittals for required documentation procedures.
