About this file

This is a clarification document correcting errors and inconsistencies in the specifications and drawings for contract 140P8325R0002 regarding the rehabilitation of restrooms at Craters of the Moon National Preserve.

The document details multiple corrections to the original specifications: The existing epoxy flooring should be re-coated with compatible epoxy rather than replaced with teal Everlast Epoxy, maintaining the current "Salt & Pepper" color scheme with light gray base coat and "D" size chips. Interior paint should be Sherwin Williams Antique White in semi-gloss finish (not eggshell) for walls and ceiling, including brick surfaces. The document also clarifies that no metal trim is needed where gypsum board meets epoxy edges. Several corrections to drawing notes indicate that all lighting fixtures, exit doors, and urinals are to be replaced (not remain), and there is no tile demolition required as the plan is to re-epoxy over existing epoxy. An accompanying image shows the current bathroom interior with epoxy meeting drywall, demonstrating the existing finish configuration.

Clarification on Spec and Drawing documents 140P8325R0002

The specs call out for Everlast Epoxy (re-epoxy with whatever is compatible so that it adheres to the Epoxy Systems epoxy that is currently there). The epoxy is in such great shape, it may just need the urethane seal, contractor will research and make the decision this needs to be reflected in the technical approach documents that is required. The color is also incorrect. Craters of the moon does not want teal floors. The color was supposed to be similar what was currently there. (The system consisted of a moisture vapor transmission barrier on the floor and a Lt Gray base coat with a double broadcast of "D" size chips creating a color blend called "Salt & Pepper". The broadcast was completed on both the floors and walls to 4'--4''height. A clear urethane topcoat was then applied to seal all surfaces.)

The teal Everlast Epoxy system is called out in the Resinous Flooring section on page 09 67 23-4, 5, and 6.

The painting of the interior needs to match what is currently there. Sherwin Williams, Antique White, Semi-gloss.

In Section Painting, 09 90 00-3, it does not have Sherwin Williams as an "available manufacturer".

On page 09 90 00-4, it calls out eggshell and only on gypsum draywall surfaces. The restrooms also have brick surfaces. The paint color that is called out is "sparta wall Velvet", this is not the paint we use, we use Sherwin Williams, antique white, semi-gloss.

On the drawings, sheet 2, General Notes 11. It states to "install metal trip on all gypsum board edges abutting other materials and where gypsum board is taped short of other materials to form a recess or reveal." This needs to be clarified that the park does not want any metal trim along gypsum board to epoxy edge.

In the notes on sheet 4 of the drawings, it states 2. "demo existing floor tile, wall tile, prepare walls to receive new paint and tile.

This is incorrect. There is no tile to be demo'd. The hope it to re-epoxy over existing epoxy.

4. States "existing lighting to remain, clean fixtures as necessary. This is also incorrect. All fixtures are to be replaced. Including the lighting.

7. States "existing bathroom entry door to remain. Prepare to repaint". This is also incorrect. Exit doors are to be replaced.

8. States "Existing urinal to remain", this is also incorrect. New washout urinal to replace all existing.

Sheet 6 of the drawings calls out incorrect information in the finish schedule section.

Floor - Color is not Dark Gray- Terrazzo - it should be similar to "salt and pepper"

Walls - finish is not eggshell, it is semi-gloss.

Ceiling - finish is not egg shell, it is semi-gloss.
