Question-Are any or all of the buildings or elements within the buildings considered historical? If so, is NPS requiring work to comply with the Secretary of Interior¿s Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties?

Answer-Yes, all buildings in the area are section

106 registered as historic structures, and therefore must adhere to the Secretaries of

Interiors standards. All material and work specifications are included to ensure work follows approved compliance package.

Question-The roofing spec calls for corrugated metal roofing with 7/8" profile. This is an exposed fastener system. It also calls for a

5-year NDL weathertightness warranty. No manufacturers that make exposed fastener metal roofing will offer any weathertightness warranty for it. The contractor¿s standard 1-year workmanship warranty may be the only warranty that you can get unless a concealed fastener seamed metal roofing product is used.

Answer-Material cannot be changed, 1 year warranty on parts would be acceptable.

Question-Looking at the photos, some of the existing roofs are a rib style exposed fastener roof. Will the corrugated metal roofing be used for all roofs or is the intent to closely match the existing roofing.

Answer-Corrugated metal roofing with 7/8" profile on all roofs.

Question-Please clarify the Previous RFI responses regarding temporary facilities. One answer confirms that temporary restrooms during construction are not required, and the next answer appears to confirm they are required. The spec section 01 50 00 indicates that a sufficient number of temporary facilities are required.

Please indicate for each site if temporary facilities are required and what is considered a sufficient number of temporary facilities at each site.

Answer-Yes, a ¿one for one¿ match of temporary toilets to hardstand toilets with handwash stations.

Question-Spec 01 50 00 requires both safety barriers and site enclosures based on the site being controlled or uncontrolled. Please Clarify for each site if they are considered controlled or uncontrolled. Please also clarify what constitutes a barrier and what constitutes and enclosure. For example, would traffic cones/posts with caution tape or orange plastic fence be a barrier? Is an enclosure a 6¿ High chain link fence?

Answer-At Nahuku a 6¿ security fence with privacy panel and signage would be sufficient, at all others traffic cones with tape and signage would be sufficient.

Question-Spec Section 07 42 13 P1.8 Warranty states to provide a 5-year NDL warranty for roof panels. Please confirm that this is not valid for wall panels. Please provide clarification on the warranty requirement for wall panels.

Answer- 1 year warranty is sufficient.

Question-Spec Section 07 42 13 P1.8 Warranty states to provide a 20-year finish warranty for the wall panels. The wall panels will be painted. This will cancel the finish warranty.

Please confirm that the finish warranty for the wall panels is not required.

Answer- Correct, warranty on labor only.

Question-For the restrooms at Thurston Lava

Tubes, the Scope of Work requires removal of existing wall mount lavatory sinks and installing new twin vanity sinks. Typically, a vanity sink is a base cabinet with countertop/sinks. Please confirm that the requirement is to install a cabinet vanity for these restrooms. If this is the requirement, please provide specs for the vanity (Stainless steel, solid wood, PLAM?)

Answer-Park would prefer no base cabinet, sinks should be stainless steel or other corrosion and moisture resistant material.

Question-For the restrooms at Thurston Lava

Tubes, please confirm that the toilets, urinals, and associated piping is not to be replaced.

Answer-Correct.

Question-SOW, Item m- asks for replacement of overhead lights with vapor proof LED lights.

Answer- 4

Question-Spec 10 28 13.14-Electric Hand Dryers, para 1.2A calls for installation of ¿two¿ hand dryers. However, the SOW item m, calls for (4) hand dryers. Please clarify which is correct.

Answer- 4

Question-Spec 099000, para 1.3C asks for SSPC QP1

Certification. Please clarify if this certification only applies to painting of the metal roof and siding, and that it would not apply to the painting of the walls, trim or gutter. Considering that scope of work is very small, the price increase would be significant.

Answer- Certification requirement only applies to painting of the metal roof and siding.

Question-SOW item c, calls for the replacement of

800sf of metal roof panels. This implies all 6 vault toilet roofs are to be replace in full

(6x150sf= 800sf). Is there no work to be done on the historic shelter roof? That is another 600sf.

Answer- Please see 1.2.C, each site has the scope of work listed per (3x chain of craters comfort stations, 1x @ Mauna Ulu, and 1x @ Kulanaokauiki campgrounds, and Hilina Pali Shelter.) roofing is listed as the first line.
