About this file
This document outlines project specifications for replacing a water well supply line at Lake Mead National Recreation Area. The project involves replacing sections of ductile iron pipe and fittings at three connection points, including Well House #1, Well House #3, and the water treatment plant. Specifications provide details on removing and replacing above-ground and underground pipe sections, valves, elbows, and spools. All new above-ground ductile iron must be painted blue to match existing. The contractor will manage weekly progress meetings to provide a two-week look-ahead schedule, photos of work completed, and address any issues. The related solicitation is to replace the water well supply line under Solicitation 140P8121R0009 for the Department of the Interior National Park Service Pacific West Region.

OO. The project shall start and end at the following connection points.
1. Well House #3: The existing ductile iron connection shall be removed at the flange outside the block wall. The elbow above ground shall be replaced. Remove the concrete slab around the down pipe. The welded spool going under ground shall be replaced. The elbow under ground shall be replaced. Install new Flanged 45-degree elbow above ground. Install new welded spool flanged DI down pipe. Install new underground DI elbow. The underground 45-degree elbow can be flanged and mechanical joint connections. The below ground elbow can connect to the C900 pipeline. The underground connection shall be set at the project determined proper depth. All new above ground DI pipe shall be painted blue to match the current pipe.
See pictures and plan detail.
2. Well House #1: The existing valve, elbow, spool and pipe sections shall be removed.
The existing down pipe shall be removed and capped at the pipe end underground.
The project shall start at the flange connection to the backflow preventer inside the well house. The existing section of HDPE pipe shall be replaced through the wooden building wall and replaced with Ductile Iron. A new handled flanged valve shall be installed farther away from the building walls. A 90-degree elbow shall be installed turning the waterline toward the outside block wall above ground. Core through the block wall. Place a new DI welded flange spool section through the wall. Grout the wall opening around the pipe. Outside the wall install a new 45-degree elbow turning underground. Install a new welded flange section of DI to the below ground 45-degree elbow. The underground elbow can be flanged and mechanical joint connections. The below ground elbow can connect to the C900 pipeline. The underground connection shall be set at the project determined proper depth. All new above ground DI pipe shall be painted blue to match the current pipe. Valve does not need to be painted if it has a factory installed protective coating. Place a concrete slab and pipe supports to support the valve and pipe bend sections inside the block wall. See pictures and plan detail.
3. Water treatment plant: Water supply line shall end at the water treatment plant inside the fence. The existing water supply comes from the valves to the up pipe in the concrete slab. Make the final connection at the flange coming from the existing supply line at the water treatment plant. Install elbows to existing flange to the new C900 piping while preserving the concrete slab. There is an existing tracer wire in this section of pipe. Use it to locate the pipe alignment. Tracer wire shall be restored and connected to the proposed tracer wire along the new section of pipe. The gravel inside the water plant fencing shall be preserved and replaced upon completion of the work. See pictures and details.
PP. The Contractor shall manage a weekly progress meeting, conference call or Teams meeting between the contractor and the COR or NPS representatives.
1. A weekly schedule update shall be presented at the meeting. Schedule shall show the previous weeks accomplishments and tasks. The schedule shall show the proposed work schedule for the future two (2) weeks of work. Three (3) weeks of work shall be shown. It should be updated weekly and sent to the COR in a PDF format.
2. Photographs of the work progress shall be taken. Regular submittal of a PDF file showing progress photos, or a log of the previous weeks work shall be done weekly.
