About this file
This document outlines project specifications for replacing a water well supply line at Lake Mead National Recreation Area. The project involves replacing an existing water supply line with new PVC pipe that meets Clark County and AWWA standards for sanitary sewer applications. An air vacuum air relief valve will be installed and the existing valve demolished. Exposed ductile iron pipes and fittings above ground will be painted blue to match existing lines. The contractor will verify subsurface materials along the alignment, expected to include sand, gravel and cobbles. Water for dust control and compaction will be drawn from Lake Mohave with metering of usage. Testing, disinfection and final inspection of the completed line will be witnessed by National Park Service representatives. Excess materials will be disposed off-site and unsuitable excavated soils placed near sewage lagoons. Work includes removal and disposal of any exposed asbestos concrete pipe.
