About this file

This is a Questions and Answers document for Amendment P0001 to Solicitation 140P6426B0003, a federal siding replacement project at an INDU facility.

The document clarifies four key requirements for bidders: (1) siding shall be factory-primed with manufacturer's standard acrylic primer, with siding cement painted after installation rather than pre-finished; (2) if Option 2 is not exercised, the scope of work will include jambs, sills, and trims surrounding all windows and doors; (3) replacement of damaged OSB sheathing (estimated at 10%) shall provide an R-value of 9 for insulation thickness; and (4) the base bid requires 2" ZIP System R-Sheathing (R-9) with integrated weather resistant barrier (WRB) per specifications, not the 1" insulation with separate weather barrier that initially appeared in the Bid Schedule. The amendment notes that an updated Bid Schedule has been posted to reflect these clarifications.

Questions and Answers listed below:

QUESTIONS:

Question # Question Answer/Response

1. Sec. 1.2 (p) states siding to be painted after installation.

Can the siding be pre-finished by manufacturer with touchups done post installation?

Siding shall be Factory Priming:

Manufacturer's standard acrylic primer. Siding Cement to be painted after installation.

2. if option 2 is not exercised as part of this IFB, would jamb extensions to existing doors and windows be part of the scope of work?

Should Option 2 not be exercised, the scope of work will encompass the jambs, sills, and trims surrounding all windows and doors.

3. in regards to replacement of damaged OSB sheathing (estimate 10%), the specifications (section 3.4, A.(1)) indicated basis of design as Huber Engineered Woods ZIP system R-Sheathing with thickness of 2” (sec 3.4 A. (2b)) while Bid Schedule calls for 1” insulation. What is the required insulation thickness/ R value?

The specified insulation thickness for the project should provide an R-value of 9.

4. Please clarify the required exterior wall insulation/sheathing assembly for the base bid siding scope.

The Base-Bid Schedule Siding tab appears to indicate to include 1" of insulation and weather barrier for the entire building(s). However, the project specifications call for 2" (R-9) ZIP System R-Sheathing with integrated WRB, or approved equal, over existing sheathing and exposed CMU where indicated.

Please confirm which requirement governs for the base bid:

1. 1" insulation with separate weather barrier, or

2. 2" ZIP System R-Sheathing (R-9) with integrated

WRB, per the specifications.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
