About this file

This document is a Questions & Answers (Q&A) amendment for Solicitation 140P6425Q0123, concerning a water storage tank repair and re-lining project at Rocky Mountain National Park. The Q&A addresses two key contractor inquiries: First, the government clarifies that the entire exposed concrete surface on the tank's interior will require sandblasting in preparation for recoating, following SSPC-SP13/NACE No. 6 surface preparation standards. Second, regarding equipment access, the document indicates that while the closest vehicle point is 500 feet from the tank, a UTV (utility terrain vehicle) might physically reach the tank opening, but such access has not been pre-approved and would require a post-award request with no guaranteed approval.

Questions & Answers

Solicitation 140P6425Q0123

Amendment #1

Repair & Re-Line Water Storage Tank

Rocky Mountain National Park

Question #1 – What portion of the tank will need to be sandblasted? I can see the metallic portions.

Will the entire tank need to be blasted before crack filling? I did read SSPC-SP13/NACE No. 6 to find out I just don't know the quality of the tank and what will be needed for adherence.

Assume that the entire exposed concrete surface on the interior of the tank will need to be sandblasted in preparation for recoating.

Question #2 – I understand the closest a vehicle can get to the tank is 500'. That is too far to push the media we need to blast the inside of the tank. Is it possible to get a side by side UTV from the vehicle point to the tank opening?

It may be physically possible to get a UTV from the closest vehicle point to the tank but this has been not approved. It is conceivable a contractor could ask for this type of access following award but there is no guarantee it would be approved and the process would take time.
