About this file
This document is an Amendment containing Questions and Answers from an HVAC site visit related to a federal contract opportunity.
The amendment addresses three key clarifications regarding HVAC replacement work at a park facility. First, removed HVAC units may remain at their current locations rather than being transported to a central drop-off point, with park staff responsible for retrieval and transport at a later date to minimize contractor labor and transportation costs. Second, the replacement HVAC system for the Stearns Ranger Station must be a packaged gas/electric unit providing gas heat and electric air conditioning capability. Third, contractors may reuse the existing concrete equipment pad if the replacement unit fits properly and the pad is in suitable condition; alternatively, if the existing pad cannot be reused, contractors may install either a new concrete equipment pad or a prefabricated resin/plastic equipment base. Any new base must be properly sized for the replacement unit, suitable for exterior use, installed level and stable, and meet the HVAC manufacturer's installation requirements.

Amendment 2
HVAC Site Visit Questions and Answers
Question 1:
After the existing HVAC units are removed, should they remain at their current locations, or should the contractor transport them to a designated central drop-off location?
Answer:
The removed HVAC units may remain at their respective locations. Park staff will retrieve and transport the units at a later date. This approach is intended to reduce contractor labor and transportation costs.
Question 2:
What type of HVAC system is required for the Stearns Ranger Station?
Answer:
The replacement system should be a packaged gas/electric HVAC unit that provides gas heat and electric air conditioning.
Question 3:
Will a new equipment pad be required for the replacement HVAC unit at the Stearns Ranger Station, or will the existing pad be reused?
Answer:
The existing concrete equipment pad may be reused if the replacement HVAC unit fits properly and the pad is found to be in suitable condition. If the existing pad cannot be reused, the contractor may install either a new concrete equipment pad or a new prefabricated resin/plastic equipment base in lieu of concrete. Any new base shall be properly sized for the replacement unit, suitable for exterior use, installed level and stable, and meet the HVAC manufacturer’s installation requirements.
