About this file
This document is an Amendment 1 with an attached Pre-Bid Project Overview and Site Visit for the YELL 311631 - Replace Mammoth Wastewater Collection System project at Yellowstone National Park. The pre-bid conference and site visit are scheduled for July 31, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at the Mammoth Community Center, with a detailed agenda including project goal discussions and a site tour of pipe and manhole rehabilitation/replacement locations.
The accompanying Questions and Answers section provides key project details, including an anticipated contract award in late August 2025 with a Notice to Proceed (NTP) approximately one month later. The project involves wastewater collection system replacement, with specific considerations for rehabilitation methods. Agenda
1:00 p.m. Meet at Mammoth Community Center.
Briefly discuss overall project goals.
Note: Interested bidders will be asked to submit all questions in writing, so that interested bidders not present at this pre-bid meeting will have access to the same information. No binding answers will be given at the pre-bid meeting, although the project team will engage interested bidders in conversation about the project.
1:15 p.m. Tour the project site. Project team members will lead a caravan of vehicles to the locations of pipe and manhole rehabilitation or replacement. Most of the tour will be on or near paved roads. Some of the tour will involve walking across mostly undeveloped terrain.
3 p.m. Adjourn (dependent upon duration of project site tour).
# question response Amendment # 1 When will the anticipated notice to proceed be issued? Is it planned for a spring of 26' start?
Contract award is anticipated in late August 2025, with NTP to follow approximately one month later, depending on the quality of the Division 1 submittals. Work is expected to start immediately, as some of the work needs to be done outside of the peak of tourist season.
2 The invitation for bid states a Pre Bid conference and site visit date will be determined and notified via addenda. Is this correct, and if so do you have an estimated date for this to occur?
A pre-bid conference is scheduled for July 31, 2025. Details are provided in Amendment 1, Attachment 1. DSC and park staff will show interested bidders the project area, but questions asked at the pre-bid will not be answered on-site. Bidders will be asked to submit their questions in writing; questions will be answered in a solicitation amendment.
3 If portions of the project were deemed candidates for other rehabilitation/repair methods such as pipe bursting vs open cut within the wetland areas would this be a consideration?
Pipe segments called out for open-cut replacement will have to be replaced. DSC will consider use of pipe-bursting in lieu of CIPP on a case-by-case basis (the major consideration would be whether there is sufficient space for an access pit). DSC would likely not be in favor or CIPP lining pipes called out for pipe-bursting, because we believe pipe-bursting will result in a more robust, durable product.
