In attachment 6, page 5, there is a lot of reference to the bridge structure, including but not limited to the following sentence:This project will include the removal of the remaining portions of deteriorated brick substructure, cleaning and repairing the granite stones, restoring and/or replacing the underlying structure of the bridge approach and all related elements. There is also an attachment 16 that specifically deals with the bridge inspection report.

The road and bridge aren't NPS's and are not part of the scope, other than for coordination and I believe tie-in where the bridge railings are adjacent to the towers. The element being referenced should be just the support for the granite along the approach "facade" and in the towers. For reference, in the attached photo, the retaining wall in the center is part of the road support and the brick in front of it is what was originally supporting the granite. Since the brick was so deteriorated and had to be removed, we need a new underlying structure to attach the granite blocks to as they are replaced.

Perhaps we can all get together and determine more precise language to use to distinguish these elements if needed.
