Questions Addressed Solicitation: 140L6224Q0049 NHTIC Automatic Door Upgrade
1. With very limited access to run new electrical to all the operators, would exposed conduit or wire mold be acceptable, if so would it need to be painted to match wall and mullion surfaces?
Exposed conduit or wire mold would be acceptable. It should be painted to match the wall and/or mullion surfaces. Every effort should be made to hide the conduit as much as possible.
2. For door repairs: existing exit device and lever handles are no longer produced by the manufacturer so anything needing parts to repair the doors to get them to function properly will not be available. Would I need to plan on replacing hardware if not repairable? If door hardware would need to be replaced, then door leaf would need to be replaced as well since the new hardware would not fit into existing hardware preps in the door.
Yes, plan on replacing door hardware if not repairable. If existing door parts are found to not function correctly, the Contract Officer Representative (COR) may authorize the replacement of parts necessary to complete the project. If the parts are not available to allow the doors to function properly, the COR may authorize replacement components up to and including a new door and door installation assembly components.
3. The electrician and I went by the site today to clarify a few things, but we were not allowed into a few areas that we needed access into for determining wire access. Would it be possible to get access into the room with the compressors and the room with the electrical panel?
Onsite visit was held on 9/4/2024 at 10 a.m.
A post- award onsite prior to the start of work for clarification of electrical panel wire access will be scheduled as needed.
4. Do the actuators need to be installed on the push side or pull side of the doors for the button located in between the sets of doors?
For any exterior doors, actuators need to be installed on the push side of the doors to minimize exposure to the elements. For the interior doors, there is no preference.
5. Will it be alright to notch the headers to run power?
Yes. Notching should be kept to a minimum to maintain the structural integrity of the headers.
6. Do all four doors need to open at once?
Yes, all four doors need to open at once from a single button.
7. Can we hammer drill through the exterior wall from the closet so that conduit can be run outside? This will be above grade and mostly hidden from public view.
Yes. All holes drilled through the exterior wall will need to be patched and filled to prevent entry by bugs or small animals.
8. Please verify extensions with an updated timeline for bids to be submitted, etc.
Previously Amended to extend submission deadline to 9/9/24 at 14:30MTD.
