Solicitation Amendment
Document 140F0121R0062-0001
Document Title Replace Wells and Pumps, Rainwater Basin, WPA, Nebraska Page 2 of 2
A. The purpose of this amendment is to respond to contractor questions and extend the proposal due date.
B. The following contractor question and Government response are provided for consideration:
1. Contractor Question: We have a question about the Atlanta Site. How long is the pipeline on the Atlanta project? The underground piping from the well to where it will be discharged is what we are asking. The specs call for 12" pipe. It just does not state anywhere the distance.
Government Response: The discharge is meant to be as close to the well and power pole as possible, with minimum distances required for accurate meter reading and construction methods. The project documents package was created prior to the new power pole for the Atlanta WPA well being installed. The well shall be placed a safe distance away from the power pole.
2. Contractor Question: There were no well depths listed, are we to bid the replacement wells at the same well depths as the originals?
Government Response: USFWS is unaware of well depths needed to obtain the flow rates required. The Harvard WPA well is located close to the existing well and is expected to be the same depth. The Atlanta WPA well is located a decent distance from the existing well. It is anticipated the new well will be the same depth of the existing, but site factors should be considered.
3. Contractor Question: In the well requirements section, number 5, it states well casing shall be PVC SDR 26, in number 8, it says well screen shall be same size and material as casing, but later in number 8 there is mention of stainless-steel coupling rings, is that required or can we use SDR 26 PVC casing and screen and stainless steel screws at the joints along with solvent cement? This would be in compliance with the State of Nebraska 178 NAC 12 Title 178 specs.
Government Response: The method mentioned will meet the specifications.
4. Contractor Question: Well requirement section, number 10, gives a couple of options for grouting the new wells, the State of Nebraska 178NAC 12 approves non-slurry bentonite grout as an acceptable method, is that allowed? I’m assuming as long as we follow the Sates 178 NAC 12 requirements, we’ll be fine, I just wanted to double check on these items since they are above and beyond the States specs.
Government Response: Grout is required by the specifications, so non-slurry bentonite grout is acceptable.
C. The response due date and time is extended to Tuesday, 24 Aug 2021, 1900 hours local time. Please provide acknowledgement of this amendment.
D. All other terms and conditions remain unchanged.
