About this file

This is a specification and requirements document for shade cover replacements issued by Broward County Parks and Recreation Department. The project involves furnishing all labor, materials, equipment, services, and incidentals required to replace fabric shade covers at eight Broward County park locations: Easterlin Park, Markham Park, CB Smith Park, Vista View Park, Franklin Park, Lafayette Hart Park, Brian Piccolo Park, and Roosevelt Gardens Park. The scope includes replacing various types of shade covers including hexagonal, sail, octagonal, and square configurations in different colors (blue, red, yellow, green, royal blue, maroon/burgundy) with approximate dimensions ranging from 15'6" to 53' depending on the structure type. The contractor must verify all field measurements, and certain locations may require repairs to existing structures and fastening mechanisms. Installation and final acceptance for all eight shade covers must be completed within ninety (90) calendar days from receipt of Notice to Proceed, with working hours limited to Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The technical specifications require shade fabrics constructed of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) meeting Florida Building Code requirements, with a minimum weight of 9.60 ounces per square yard, fire resistance compliance with NFPA 701 and ASTM E84 Class A standards, and a minimum 10-year fabric warranty. Approved fabric manufacturers include Polyfab USA LLC, GALE Pacific, Shade Systems Inc., ALNET, and Pro-Knit Industries. Threading must be made of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) or expanded polytetrafluoroethylene (ePTFE) with UV resistance, with approved products from Gore, AY Tech LLC, or approved equals. The contractor's submitted prices must be all-inclusive of costs, and they must confirm verification of existing conditions, site access, and all contract requirements. All measurements provided are approximate, and the contractor is responsible for obtaining final field measurements at each location.
