About this file

This document is an Addendum #1 issued by the Oregon Department of Corrections for the OSPM Fire Alarm System Upgrade project (Solicitation #S-29100-000 13611). The addendum provides clarifications, revisions, and responses to contractor questions regarding the fire alarm system upgrade at the Oregon State Penitentiary Main (OSPM) facility. Key details include modifications to technical specifications, addressing queries about smoke detectors, HVAC units, gate control during fire alarms, and site access procedures. The document requires bidders to sign and return the addendum by the bid closing date, with potential bid rejection for non-compliance.

The addendum reveals critical project requirements, including the installation of combo smoke/CO detectors in the Main Housing and Recreation Buildings, confirmation of fuel-burning appliances in multiple buildings, and specific requirements for fire alarm boxes (to be painted red). Contractors must undergo background checks (LED's) and will be escorted by a Construction Escort during site access. The project involves upgrading fire alarm systems across multiple buildings, with specific attention to duct smoke detection for certain HVAC units. Notably, the document clarifies that a UUKL Listed Fire Alarm Control Panel is not required for this I-3 occupancy group project, and there is no dedicated smoke control system as previously questioned by potential bidders.

Answer: Transportation - There is an existing HRV unit which is over 2,000 CFM.

However, the unit does not function and will be replaced by OSPM. Therefore, no duct smoke required.

Main Housing - A duct smoke will be added for RAF-1. See addenda drawings.

Recreation - A duct smoke will be added for an HVAC unit. See addenda drawings.
