About this file

This document is Amendment 0002 to a Request for Quote (RFQ) for the NOAA Glider Lab Expansion project (Solicitation Number 1305M326Q0332), issued by the Department of Commerce's Western Administrative Division (WAD-SAP) located in Seattle, Washington. The amendment, effective July 17, 2026, serves to provide responses to fourteen Requests for Information (RFIs) received from contractors and to extend the RFQ deadline. The new quote submission deadline is August 13, 2026 at 3:00 PM Hawaii Standard Time.

The RFI responses address construction and renovation work in Rooms 2108A, 2108B, 2109, 2110, and 2111 at a NOAA facility. Key clarifications include: the wall between rooms 2108A and 2109 extends above ceiling tiles; NOAA will remove misc supplies, equipment, tote boxes, and wall hangings, while the contractor is responsible for relocating free-standing shelves, lockers, and a fireproof file cabinet; wall-attached shelving and cabinets must be removed and disposed of by the contractor; electrical outlets being removed must be terminated according to code; the eyewash station must remain functional; the existing sink in Room 2109 should be removed and disposed of by the contractor; and outlets must meet building code requirements. The vehicle gate can accommodate vehicles up to 13 feet wide. The new door between rooms 2109 and 2110 shall be offset closer to room 2111 to maximize wall space. Rooms 2109 and 2111 will be vacant during construction, while NOAA workers will actively use rooms 2108A, 2108B, and part of 2110.

2 07/31/26 SOW, Para. 3.3, Figures 4 & 5 (page 6 & 7) - Will the Government be removing the shelving, tubs, wall hangings, etc. or will that the Contractor's responsibility? Is it all to be disposed of?

08/03/26

The misc supplies, equipment, and tote boxes will be removed by NOAA. The wall hanging (painting) will be removed by NOAA. The contractor will be responsible for relocating the (empty) free-standing shelves and (empty) lockers to another part of room 2109, 2110, or 2108 so that they are away from the immediate construction area. A heavy-duty fireproof file cabinet (safe) is also located in the vicinity of the construction site in room 2110. This file cabinet is empty. The contractor will be responsible for moving this item to another part of the room, if necessary, so that it is out of the way of the construction activity.

Room 2109 and 2111 will be vacant. There will be NOAA workers actively utilizing Rooms 2108A and 2108B and part of 2110. We will make every effort to work with the contractor's schedule to minimize NOAA personnel in these rooms especially during very active tasks such as wall demolition.

8/4/2026 8/5/2026

Rm 2108 - Physiology Lab - Eye Wash Station – the wall behind the eye wash station has the water line for the two-compartment sink. Should the eyewash station line be rerouted or permanently capped? If it is to be capped, is ProPress acceptable, or is a brazed connection needed?
