The bridle will be composed of two equal lengths of line that meet at a point in front of the bow of the vessel in line with the centerline.
The lines must be long enough so that the meeting point can be adjusted to be between 12 and 24 feet ahead of the cleats. Both lines must have a thimble eye spliced in one end and have enough extra line to be adequately secured to the bow cleats. Provide a chain hook and any other required hardware to connect these thimble eyes to the anchor chain. Also provide a shackle of sufficient size to connect these thimble eyes to a mooring ball. Provide 5 feet of fire hose on each bridle leg, centered on where it will pass through the bow bulwarks when the meeting point is 12 feet ahead of the cleats. Work with NOAA staff to answer any questions and for final approval before the start of work.
B] Using the bridle provided for the paragraph above, determine the location in the bow bulwarks where the bridle will pass through. Provide a design in writing to the TPOC for approval before any work on this task begins. Once approved, cut an appropriately sized hole, one foot wide and 9 inches tall with 3” radiused corners centered around the point where the bridle will pass through the bow bulwarks. Weld 1” aluminum round tube or pipe around the top, bottom, and sides of the opening. Do not cut any structural members and notify the TPOC if any are anticipated to be in the way. All Welding to follow A.11 above. Demonstrate the bridle set up going through the hawse holes to the TPOC.
15] Create stowage bin under ladder Design a storage basket as indicated by the TPOC in the space behind the ladder aft of the main cabin.
Provide a square tube frame or comparable material with sides of either expanded metal or ⅛” plate with stiffeners as needed. All sharp edges must be faired smooth and the finished product is to fit well under the ladder. All welding to follow A.11 above.
16] Test and inspect starboard Lazarette fan Test and inspect ventilation fan in starboard Lazarette and determine if the ducting (below deck), piping (above deck), and ball check valve on deck are free from obstructions and are of adequate size for rated air flow. Measure temperature of fan motor after 30 minutes of operation and confirm that it is within its rated range. Confirm that air supply to the fan comes from the Port Lazarette when both deck hatches are closed. Provide a written report of findings and recommended improvements to the TPOC.
17] Add fath display and 2 tachs at aft control station Provide and install two repeater tachometers for the main engines and one repeater fathometer at the aft steering station. TPOC will indicate where on the station they will be installed. Original displays are located in the wheel house. Provide either a removable cover for the new gauges, or design a brow to shield them from weather if they are not placed under the existing cover. Double check the orientation and position with the TPOC before starting work. All welding must follow A.11 above, if necessary.
Demonstrate functionality to TPOC (NOAA staff will start engines and run controls).
18] Provide 208 to 240 VAC switching Provide and install a selector switch in the port Lazarette between the shore power receptacle cable end and the leads on the two shore power Isolation transformers (2 x Marine Puck MP6, rated at 6kVA each). The switch will select which of two sets of taps on the isolation transformers (208 VAC and 240 VAC) will receive shore power voltage. All switches, wires, and connectors must be sized to handle the full shore power voltage and current. This will be for when the vessel receives shore power provided at different voltages (either 208 VAC or 240 VAC). Use a switch similar to “Blue Sea Systems AC Source Selection Circuit Breaker Panel - 8061” or a rotary switch of comparable function. The current shore power breaker enclosure may be utilized if it has sufficient panel area and enclosure volume for the wires and connectors that will be added, else provide and mount a separate enclosure in a location designated by the TPOC. Show that the switch functions as intended to keep the vessel voltage constant regardless of shore power voltage.
19] Install 5 windshield roll-up shades Provide and install transparent roll-up window shades on the five forward-facing wheel house windows.
When stowed, the shades must not block the view through the window. When in use, the shades will be secured so that motion of the vessel does not move them. Demonstrate to NOAA staff the operation of the shades.
20] Replace PH bimini top fabric Replace the fabric of the bimini top with sunbrella or equivalent in the same color as the original.
Duplicate the existing bimini to the extent possible and reinstall. Demonstrate fit and operation to NOAA staff.
21] Repair seat and back cushions at settee Repair or replace the seat and back cushion attachment points as indicated by the TPOC. Attach the hook and loop fasteners to both sides mechanically, using an adhesive to supplement.
22] Provide 4 spare sea strainer baskets Provide 4 sea strainer baskets that are compatible with those for the main engines. Determine and provide the part number for the strainer baskets and deliver them to the vessel appropriately packaged so they will not be damaged during storage. Demonstrate the fit of one strainer to NOAA staff.
23] Revise aft draft marks Remove old draft marks, clean the surface, and install new draft marks. All materials to be provided by the contractor. Numbers must be 6” tall and placed once per foot. Start the measurement for the new draft marks from the lowest point of all protrusions (strut skeg, propeller, or rudder). Confirm with TPOC the placement of the new decals before affixing them.
