About this file
This document is a Statement of Work (SOW) for a Californium-252 (Cf-252) Neutron Source, developed under the Department of Energy (DOE) Cooperative Agreement No. DE-NE0009054 by TerraPower, LLC for the Natrium Demonstration Project. The SOW outlines supplier requirements for procuring a Cf-252 neutron source with specific form factor specifications, including an outside diameter of .217/.218 inches, outside length of .975 inches, inside diameter of .154 inches, and inside length of .75 inches. The primary delivery milestone is set for March 2030, with the supplier expected to develop a basic project schedule, provide monthly reports, and submit various project management and material processing documentation, including final data packages and shipping notifications.
The quality level for the Cf-252 is designated as non-safety related/commercial quality, subject to the supplier's quality program and industry standards. The document emphasizes that the work must be performed using professional knowledge, be suited for the intended application, and meet performance guarantees and specifications. While specific pricing details are not provided in the document, the SOW indicates that the supplier will work under TerraPower's quality management framework, with detailed project coordination to be managed through Supplier Coordination Requests (SCRs) and overseen by a Supplier Project Engineer (SPE). The work is part of TerraPower's broader fuel fabrication efforts for the Natrium project, with an emphasis on comprehensive documentation, quality control, and adherence to export control regulations.
