This document contains a log of questions and responses related to a solicitation for bridge repair and maintenance work on the Modoc National Forest. The work involves furnishing all labor, materials, equipment and other incidentals. Questions addressed include clarification on the bid bond amount, required bridge rail end treatments, equipment wash locations, and RFI submission deadlines. Responses provide details on the 20% or $200,000 bid guarantee, preference for a rounded bull-nose rail end section, allowance for on-site equipment washing with Forest Service approval, and a closing date for RFIs of 5 calendar days before the solicitation closes.

Regarding the rail end treatments, there are 2 or 3 different types that can be used, do you have a specific one that is called out. Sorry I could not find it in the specs. We’re seeking a rounded, bull-nose style end section with breakaway assembly. The approach rail should flare out from the bridge rail and the end section should be offset from the edge of travelled way at least 3 feet.
Could you please provide the sign-in sheet from the site visit?A sign-in sheet was not collected. There were 2 representatives in attendance, one from Larranaga Trucking, Inc. and one from Judd Buick Construction, Inc.

Does the 50’ of AC also need new AB under it?Per drawing sheet 3, USFS requires a minimum AB depth of 6 inches. USFS-provided material sources have been identified to supply this when needed.
Under wildlife conservation measures it states all previously painted members shall be repainted. Does this include every and all surfaces? Does this include the galvanized guard rail?Girders and guardrails are the members that need painting. Some of the galvanized rails were previously painted and USFS wishes to restore these to new condition and appearance. Members that were not previously painted do not require new paint.
Botany mitigation measures. Can we clean the equipment at each site before moving to next or does in need to be hauled off to be washed?Equipment may be washed on site before moving on to the next location. Wash locations must be approved by the Forest Service in advance. Equipment should be loaded onto the transport trailer and then washed to ensure the site remains tidy and no contaminated mud is tracked off site.
