About this file

This is a Detailed Information Chart attachment for a 2026 tree planting contract within the Gunnison Ranger District, Grand Mesa-Uncompaghre-Gunnison (GMUG) National Forest in Colorado. The document specifies planting requirements across three items covering multiple project areas: Item 1 (Taylor Park Area with 42,660 lodgepole pine seedlings across 8 planting units totaling 135 acres); Item 2 (Lujan Creek, Divide Salvage, and Slumgullion Areas with 87,936 Engelmann spruce seedlings across 11 planting units totaling 353 acres); and Item 3 (North Zone with 66,006 Engelmann spruce seedlings across 31 planting units totaling 1,305.4 acres). All trees are 1-year-old container stock with 16-inch minimum diameter clearing and 16-inch minimum diameter scalping to 2 inches depth or mineral soil.

The chart provides detailed specifications for each planting unit including FACTS identifiers, acreage, net planting acres, trees per acre (TPA) ranging from 302 to 538, seed lot numbers, elevation (9,300-11,300 feet), slope percentages (4-42%), aspect orientation, boundary marking requirements (blue flagging and/or orange paint), non-planting areas (rocky areas, large slash, roadsides, ash pits, advanced regeneration), vehicle access availability, walk-in distances, and delivery points via various Forest Service Roads. All planting locations require natural shade and protection from down logs (minimum 6 inches diameter and 2 feet length), stumps (minimum 8 inches diameter and 6 inches height), standing dead trees (minimum 8 inches diameter), or rocks (minimum 8 inches diameter and 6 inches height) positioned within 4 inches of planted seedlings. Planting spot selection prioritizes stationary protective materials first, then transportable shade; no trees shall be planted where neither material exists.
