Questions and Answers for 12505B24Q0360 – PLC & SCADA Upgrade
1. Do you have any drawings of the current system? Specifically how the network is setup? Any drawing will be helpful though.
A. We do not have any drawings
B. 9 slave PLCs and 1 master all talk through cat 5e and cat 6 cable.
2. Is it required to upgrade to GE products, or can different vendors be used?
A. Yes
3. Do you currently have the ability to get online with the GE processor? I.e. maintenance laptop, or software on the SCADA server?
A. No
4. What communications medium is used to communicate with the 9 slave PLCs?
A. Ethernet cable
5. What kind of PLCs are the 9 slaves?
A. All GE components
6. Do you intend to re-use the alarm notification system (sensaphone)?
A. Yes
7. How many HMI screens are currently in your system that will need converting/rebuilding?
A. One
8. How many tags are in the historian?
A. Do not have an answer at this time.
9. Are there any reports that need to be created from the history?
A. Yes
10. Are there any network switches that need to be provided as part of this scope?
A. Yes, if it is obsolete
11. Will configuration of remote access be provided as part of this scope?
A. Whoever gets the contract will need to provide configuration of remote access
12. Can you provide Electrical drawings?
A. No
13. Do you have the PLC and SCADA backups?
No
14. Picture of enclosure that require PLC and remote IO upgrade A. Pictures are not currently available
15. Do you want Emerson/GE solution? Or will you take any PLC available in the market like
Siemens, Allen Bradley or OPTO22?
A. GE
16. Do they have in mind a SCADA system they prefer? Or can we use Ignition?
A. I want to keep our PLC system, I don’t want a web based universal platform. What we have was designed for our unique facility and has worked well.
