Questions and Answers for 12505B24Q0360 –0003 PLC & SCADA Upgrade

1. HMI Hardware: Could you please specify the current HMI Hardware being user?

A. There is no HMI hardware to my knowledge

2. Wiring: Due to age, is there a need to replace any existing wiring? If so, coud you specify the areas concerned?

A. We do not anticipate having to replace any existing wiring.

3. Do you currently have the ability to get online with the GE processor? I.e. maintenance laptop, or software on the SCADA server?

A. No

4. Are there any plans to integrate additional devices, such as pumps or sensors, into the system? Also, is there an anticipated increase in the number of tags in the foreseeable future? Are there external alarms or lights triggering in the current system??

A. There are plans to integrate 6 currently installed ABB VFD drives installed on two separate recirculating systems on a PID loop to satisfy two sump levels by increasing or decreasing pump speed. Also to self-restart or cycle to a lag pump in the case of a power or pump failure. Also in the future there are plans to add other recirculating system controls into this PLC. All alarms are transmitted by a sensaphone dialer.

5. Would like to confirm bid submission requirement?

A. Bids must be submitted via email to Jeff Kathman @ jeffery.kathman@usda.gov prior to 1400 CST 9/24/2024.

6. Does the customer want Cimplicity 2024?

A. Yes.

7. Why are Allen Bradley parts not ins a rack with a CPU?

A. That is the way they were originally installed

8. Can they send photos of the enclosure housing the current PLC?

(see below) mailto:jeffery.kathman@usda.gov

9. There is a place in the statement of objectives defining the goal of a “web-enabled for remote access control”. In the last Q&A response it is stated “I don’t want a web based universal platform”. So, this is to be a locally controlled system with web access to monitor and control from a remote location?

A. Yes, it is a locally controlled PLC that controls pumps running, speeds to satisfy sump levels and O2 saturation. When emergencies happen or alarms are triggered (via PLC points) pump speeds, pump starting, or levels need to be able to be adjusted via the web over a smart phone. Can you provide Electrical drawings?
