About this file

This document is a Road Log containing work descriptions for the Bell Smith Springs Road Reconstruction project located in Pope County, Illinois, managed by the USDA Forest Service Shawnee National Forest. The project encompasses repaving and parking improvements across three forest roads: Bell Smith Springs Road (848), Redbud Campground Road (848A), and Hunting Branch Road (849).

The work descriptions are organized by mile post locations along each road and detail specific construction activities required. Redbud Campground Road (7 work items, 0.000 to 0.300 mile posts) requires replacing five culverts (18x26 to 24 squash dimensions) with concrete headwall replacements and chip seal application. Hunting Branch Road (19 work items, 0.000 to beyond 0.700 mile posts) involves replacing approximately 15 culverts of varying dimensions, removing and replacing a stone headwall, and creating a gravel parking expansion of approximately 100 feet by 60 feet. The document includes vicinity maps, detailed topographical maps with mile post markers, and standard engineering details for the reconstruction project.
