About this file
This document contains General Notes for a federal construction contract, likely part of a Statement of Work or Special Project Specifications for forest road and culvert work. The notes establish contractor requirements and responsibilities for a road construction and infrastructure project on Federal lands, with oversight by the Forest Service and an Engineer.
Key contractor obligations include: calling Illinois 1 Call JULIE (800-892-0123 or 811) prior to earth-disturbing activities to locate underground utilities; furnishing, erecting, and maintaining minimum barricades and warning signs conforming to the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) until final inspection and acceptance, with all "ROAD CONSTRUCTION AHEAD" signs requiring Forest Service approval and coverage during non-work periods; completing roads to prevent water ponding on roadbed or ditch lines; hauling removed corrugated metal pipe culverts off Federal lands (becoming contractor property unless designated for salvage); and performing contouring, topsoil re-spreading, seeding, and mulching of disturbed areas as directed by the Forest Service, with these activities considered incidental to the 60230 culvert pay items. The contractor bears full responsibility and expense for repairing all areas damaged by their operations, including required seeding and mulching.
