About this file
This document is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) file for the GAOA Monday Creek Trail Bridge Rehabilitation solicitation (Solicitation 12445525B0002). The document contains six technical questions related to bridge rehabilitation details, including inquiries about railing sheet image quality, timber deck specifications, structural bridge details, deck board installation, and bid opening procedures. Key clarifications include: timber deck boards must be a minimum of 2" nominal thickness, diaphragm connection technical specifications are provided, and the bid opening will be held virtually via Microsoft Teams (URL posted on SAM.gov or accessible by phone at +1 202-650-0123 with meeting ID 861818614#). Questions were collected before and during a site visit, with all Q&A to be posted to SAM.gov, and interested parties can request additional document details by emailing Chad Meenach at chad.b.meenach@usda.gov.

GAOA Monday Creek Trail Bridge Rehabilitation Solicitation 12445525B0002 Questions:
1. I don't see in the solicitation where questions should be posted. I'm including several of the questions here. Questions prior to site visit will be collected and answered at the time of the site visit. Questions at the Site visit will be recorded. All Q/A’s will be posted to SAM.
2. Sheets C-06, and C-07 show details of the railing, however, the image quality is poor and hard to read. Is a clear set of the details available, or a link to the originals?
Documents are in .pdf and should be zoomable. Originals can be requested by emailing Chad Meenach (chad.b.meenach@usda.gov).
3. The plans show the timber deck as 5-1/2" thick, but I don't see where it specifies the thickness of the boards to be laminated. Would it be 2" nominal lumber (thickness used on NPS bridges). Thickness of individual laminating boards must be a minimum of 2” nominal thickness. Laminations may be thicker. Deck panels will be approved as shop drawing submittals.
4. Sheet C-05 shows structural details of the bridge but doesn't show the dimensions of the diaphragm connections illustrating the hole spacing, hardware size, and plate thickness. MC9X23.9 (Bottom Width: 3.45 in., Depth: 9in., Top Thickness: 0.55 in, Top Width: 3.45 in.)
5. Sheet C-05, the Anchor and Clearance Detail appears to show the final timber deck board as "Field fit" to the backwall. The drawing shows no support under the board and no room for expansion and contraction of the bridge. Is this correct? On previous bridges we have terminated the deck boards at the end of the steel support and installed a flat transition plate that covers the gap and is only fastened to the timber side to allow for thermal changes to the bridge and provide safe passage of vehicles, pedestrians, and bikes when needed. See the revised design in attachment 07.
6. How can I attend the bid opening? A URL to the Microsoft Teams meeting is now posted to https://sam.gov, or interested parties may attend by calling +1 202-650- 0123, and using meeting ID 861818614#.
