About this file
This file is a Questions and Answers document from a site visit conducted on October 22, 2026, addressing contract clarifications for forest management work at Ocala National Forest.
The work involves cutting Sand Pine and Oak trees less than 3 inches in diameter at 4.5 feet within a 20-foot radius from longleaf seedlings across 24 compartment-stand units with seedling densities ranging from 31 to 540 seedlings per acre. Work completion order is flexible with no mandatory sequence; contractors may submit bills by compartment or multiple compartments. The production rate target is approximately 15 acres daily, though minor fluctuations are acceptable if major changes are agreed upon in advance. Work may be performed on weekends. No professional certifications are required for on-site foremen, and GPS data collection is not required. Wheeled or tracked equipment may be used only with prior written agreement; work is typically performed by hand with power tools. An English-speaking on-site supervisor is required, with one supervisor acceptable for multiple crews within the same compartment but separate supervisors needed for crews in different compartments. UTV/ATV use is permitted on established roads and trails for equipment transport on a minimal basis without improvement or appearance of newly created access. Active hunting seasons (Muzzleloader and General Gun October 30, 2026 through January 10, 2027; Small Game through March 7, 2027) will occur during contract performance. OSHA-compliant personal protective equipment and first aid kits are mandatory. This is a service contract requiring contractor-submitted invoices for payment with no bonding or down payment requirements. Geo-referenced PDF maps will be provided to the awardee, and contractors may access free navigation resources through the Avenza Map app.
