About this file
This document is an Asbestos Building Inspection Report for the Hailey House located in the Sawtooth National Forest, Ketchum Ranger District. An asbestos walkthrough was completed on March 27, 2019, during which multiple building materials were sampled and sent to a laboratory for analysis. The samples included attic insulation (resembling wood chips), wall insulation (fiber board type material), and wall compound.
Laboratory testing revealed that the wall insulation sample contained two material types: first, brown fiber debris comprising over 99% of the sample, and second, 1.2% chrysotile asbestos in white limestone plaster with mica. The attic insulation sample contained less than 1% glass fiber in brown wood chips, and no asbestos was detected. The wall compound sample consisted of white paint, white gypsum plaster with fine mica, and tan plant fiber paper, with no asbestos detected. The report was prepared by Ken Olchawa, an Asbestos Inspector with Certificate #180460, who can be contacted at 208-423-7600 for any questions.
