About this file

This is a Questions and Answers document for solicitation 12363N26Q4161 related to the Mark Twain National Forest Beaver Lake Dam Rehabilitation project under the Department of Agriculture Forest Service. The document addresses five key clarifications from potential bidders regarding project scope and technical specifications.

The Q&A clarifies that the project will not utilize a design-build approach and does not require a separate design firm. A boat ramp component previously listed in the supplemental specifications has been removed from the scope of work. Regarding technical specifications, precast or prefabricated outlet structures are acceptable alternatives to poured-in-place construction. For pipe joint details, bidders must utilize C361 Low Pressure Reinforced Concrete Pipe with Confined Concrete Joint Face rather than steel bell and spigot rings, with the government noting that this specification differs from typical local supplier standards. The document also confirms that no liquidated damages clause applies to this contract. These clarifications establish firm requirements and acceptable alternatives for contractors preparing bids for the dam rehabilitation work, which includes water level draw-down, clearing and grubbing, excavation of existing overflow conduit, and spillway erosion repair with riprap.

2. Are we including the boat ramp in the project? It is listed in the scope of work section of the supplemental specifications, but not listed elsewhere.

No boat ramp is included in the project.

3. For the outlet structure, they asked if a prefab structure would be alright or if only poured in place would work. Precast/prefab is fine
