Cedar DxP Q&A
•Is a Bid Bond required for the entire project or just the road work portion?
As stated in the solicitation, Bonds shall be 100% of the total value of the road reconstruction items. Bid Guarantee is due with submission of proposal 20 percent of the bid price for reconstruction.
•Mandatory Work Item 1 Cut and Remove Included Timber - Unit Price and Total is listed as N/A, what is the payment method for this work?
Item 1 cut and remove timber listed as N/A as it is NOT a pay item.
•What is the quantity estimated that will require seeding and mulching?
Should be minimal in terms of amount, we are talking about waste disposal areas and reconstructed culvert catch basins. It is difficult to estimate because it will depend on how many waste disposal sites the contractor will use or how large they will make the piles. There are currently 8 potential disposal sites on the vicinity map available for use. There is identified ~6249 cubic yards of material to be wasted in the spec road package. There are 34 culvert catch basin reconstructions identified in the spec road package, appendix D.
•Cut and Remove Included Timber within 100 feet of roads on Roadside Units in the Contract Area. If equipment cannot leave the road what is the proposed method for removing timber beyond equipment’s reach?
That is dependent upon the contractor, this would be part of the proposal. An option might be to directionally hand fall the trees towards the road. We are looking at their proposal for how they will bring the fuels to the fuels loading standards listed in the contract.
•Removal Of Existing Asphalt - Is asphalt to be disposed of off-site?
Asphalt should be disposed off-site.
