WHITE RIVER FIRE RECOVERY IRSC
Amendment 002 - Solicitation 12363N22Q4091
Contractor Questions & Answers
1) Piling:
In the solicitation it mentions we will need to pile material from brushing the roads in designated areas. I do not see those piling areas posted on the provided map, sheet two, of the road reconstruction plans.
Disposal areas are not shown on the contract map. Approved disposal areas would be identified in the field once work starts.
Is the piling of that material going to be in close proximity from where it was cut or at an on off site location?
The disposal areas would be in close proximity to the location at which the material is cut (generally within ½ mile).
If off site how far will we need to travel to the disposal or pile area?
Generally within ½ mile.
There are quite a few existing piles within ditches. Will that material need to be relocated?
Yes, material within the ditch lines will need to be treated to specifications.
There is quite a bit of down material within the 200 foot line of a lot of the roads. Does that material need to be piled or just the material we generate?
Outside of the clearing / brushing limits (See sheet 6 of Appendix D) only the material generated from project activities would be required to be piled.
2) Ditching maintenance:
Do all tree and root balls growing in the ditch line need to be removed?
Where clearing and grubbing is identified root balls growing in the ditch line need to be removed.
Does any ditch with an existing IE above one foot below subgrade need reshaped or can it be left alone?
Yes, as required in item #20 Road Reconstruction - Roadway Reconditioning (30315)
Under road maintenance ditches only need to function as designed.
Operator is asking if the flowline is 12 inches from top or bottom of the subgrade, or just until the dirt?
Looking at the plans it appears to be from top. Please confirm.
See sheet 6 of Appendix D and page 6 of Appendix D SUPPLEMENTAL SPECIFICATIONS for definitions and dimensions.
3) Roads:
How deep do ruts have to be before repairs must be done to any part of a road that does not have 2%- 4% crown?
For maintenance, see T811: Blade and shape the existing traveled way and shoulders, including turnouts, to produce a surface which is uniform, consistent to grade, and crowned or cross-sloped as indicated by the character of the existing surface, unless otherwise shown in C(T)5.31#, to at least ½ inch per 1 foot of width, but not more than ¾ inch per 1 foot of width.

Does grass need to be cleared from the roadway beyond 12 feet?
Yes, grass would need to be cleared a minimum of 12 feet or the width of the road if greater than 12 feet.
Is the road subgrade rock or dirt?
Varies by road (subgrade is composed of native material). See page 6 of Appendix D SUPPLEMENTAL
SPECIFICATIONS.
What does the gravel depth need to be?
Depth of material would be at least twice the gradation.
What is the compaction test being used for the gravel road?
Visual Inspection: with a loaded log/dump truck for the test roll.
4) Wood Volume:
As you know there are a lot more trees that need to be felled in the roadside units to comply with OSHA safety standards.
What method did you use to calculate the volume you currently have listed?
Cut Tree Mark Units (cruised volume includes trees designated with blue paint which meet specifications within Appendix B.) – Sample Tree (STR) cruise was utilized with a total sampling error (SE) of ±20% at the 95% confidence level.
Leave Tree Mark Units (cruise volume includes all trees not marked in orange paint which meet specifications within Appendix B.) – Variable radius plots at a 20 BAF with a total sampling error (SE) of ±20% at the 95% confidence level.
5) Bull Complex Map has features that how “In Progress” – is that work to be bid on?
Only the work as identified on the Schedule of Items and Appendix E shall be quoted. Any features that are shown on the MAP that are “In Progress” shall not to be included in quotes.
