About this file
This file is a compressed archive containing as-built drawings for tornado damage repairs at the USDA-ARS U.S. Horticultural Research Laboratory in Ft. Pierce, Florida, and associated satellite facilities. The as-built documentation provides detailed construction drawings and specifications reflecting the completed work as it was actually constructed, serving as a reference document for the phased reconstruction project addressing tornado damage across three sites: the main U.S. Horticultural Research Laboratory in Ft. Pierce, Picos Farm in Ft. Pierce, and Whitmore Farm in Leesburg.
The project encompasses approximately 48,000 square feet of greenhouse facilities (27 standard greenhouses and 4 conditioned greenhouses) plus 20,000 square feet of supporting infrastructure including hallways, vents, and intake screening. The repair work is structured in four phases, with Phase 1 addressing the most severely damaged structures (9 standard greenhouses, corridors, and main building roofing totaling approximately 20,500 square feet), Phase 2 covering 8 standard greenhouses and 4 conditioned greenhouses with mechanical unit replacements (approximately 24,000 square feet), and subsequent phases addressing remaining damaged structures. The as-built drawings contained in this archive document the final construction details for these phased repairs and serve as baseline documentation for the completed tornado recovery work.
