General Information
1.0 Scope of Work
ERRC Upgrade and modernize main HP Air Compressor.
2.0 Background
The Eastern Regional Research Center (ERRC) is one of four Regional Research Centers of the Agricultural Research Service, U.S. Department of Agriculture. The ERRC is home to the nation’s leading scientists and engineers who solve problems facing the U.S. today and tomorrow with fundamental, applied, and developmental research on agricultural commodities. Most of this research is conducted in the main building within two laboratory wings. The original building was constructed in 1940. Due to continuous upgrades and renovations, ERRC is very modern with respect to laboratory design and system condition.
Contractor Requirements
3.0 Technical Requirements / Tasks
1. Remove an antiquated air compressor and properly dispose.
2. Supply and install the new compressor in the same area. The new compressor must be one (1) Gardner
Denver OIL-FREE TWO-STAGE FIXED SPEED (or variable speed) ROTARY SCREW COMPRESSOR , or an equal item with the following salient characteristics:
• at least 40HP (30kW)
• at least 192 CFM @ 125 PSIG
• 460V/3PH/ 60Hz (Less Enclosure)
• Water-Cooled Heat Exchanger
• Wye-Delta Reduced Volt Start
• With Starter
• Zero Risk of Contamination
• ODP High Efficiency Motor
• Full Synthetic oil with at least 8000 Hours lifetime comparable to the AEON 9000SP 8000 Hour Lube STD
• 80°C (176°F) Mixing Valve Temp (with Water Temp Regulator, Water Shutoff Valve, and Moisture Separator)
3. Provide material needed for installation tie in / cut over.
4. Complete discharge, cooling water and condensate piping tie-in to new unit.
5. Tie new air compressor into existing electrical.
6. Verify all hook ups and test unit for proper operation.
7. Provide onsite owner training for the new equipment and warranty registration.
4.0 Deliverables / Schedule
1. The Contractor shall notify the USDA ARS area office representative when work is complete and before invoicing.
