About this file
This document contains questions and answers regarding a federal solicitation for PFAS chemical testing services. The solicitation is seeking testing of samples to either confirm the absence of 36 to 40 PFAS analytes using EPA Method 537M or ASTM D7979, or to determine the concentration range of PFOS/PFOA if expected to be present. Acceptable methods include DOD Method 1633 which uses labeled analogs. Additional PFAS compounds can be included in testing. The regulatory body is agreeable to robust analysis without becoming prohibitively expensive. Half of the samples are class A firefighting foam concentrates.

Contractor Q&As
Solicitaon: 12318723Q0458/PFAS Chemical Tesng
Req.: 1086382
SAM.gov Link: htps://sam.gov/opp/0580d2895a6147aa841a45d66a7f9fd1/view
1. For the request of “to ASTM D7979 or the EPA’s Modified Method 537 (537M) for determining presence of PFAS analytes”, please send us a copy of the ASTM method. We will need to evaluate if our LC/MS can perform the test and to esmate the cost.
Answer: See answer to queson 3, we do not have copies of these ASTMs available for distribuon, only for internal research purposes through our FS Library.
2. And the test requires “ISO 17025” accreditaon, so the government wants the studies to be GLP, correct?
Answer: Yes
3. Is method DOD 1633 acceptable? The method uses a labeled analog for all 40 analytes to increase the accuracy of quantaon, If not why is 537M chosen over DOD 1633?
Answer: Yes this method is acceptable, ulmately we want to be able to provide results that comply with EPA requirements.
4. We would like to propose this list for analysis as it is a more inclusive list. Would the regulang body be opposed to amending the 36 to 40 PFAS analytes below?
Answer: The added compounds are certainly agreeable, we would like the analysis to be as robust as possible without becoming prohibively expensive.
