2. Leave all conifer trees which exceed a maximum DBH cut limit.
3. Select additional leave trees from healthy, undamaged conifers under specified DBH cut limit as necessary to achieve average spacing.
4. If no healthy undamaged tree exists at the required spacing interval, leave a tree relatively free of damage, regardless of species.
5. Selection of leave trees will be made in the following priority order: Ponderosa pine, western larch, Douglas-fir, lodgepole pine, and grand fir

7. Minimum cut tree height is 12 inches.
8. Trees (not needed for spacing purposes) exceeding eighteen (18) inches in height shall be severed below the lowest live limb, except when prevented by natural obstacles; in which case, any live limbs below the cutting point shall be removed. Trees shall be completely severed from the stump. Stump height shall not exceed six (6) inches above the ground level or two (2) inches above a natural obstacle.
Grapple Pile Information (Applies to all grapple pile units)
To produce the Desired Outcome of this contract, the contractor shall pile material from 1 to 10 inches in diameter. Treatment units shall be piled so that residual fuel loading (after piles are burnt) is a maximum of 3 to 7 pieces of woody debris ranging from 3 - 10 inches DBH per (1/20th acre) inspection plot.
Pile Requirements
1. Piles shall be constructed in such a manner as to ignite easily and combust completely, contain fire within the pile perimeter, and do minimal damage to residual trees.
1. Pile height shall be 5 feet minimum and 15 feet maximum. Where applicable piles meeting the maximum size requirements are proffered.
1. Piles shall be constructed a minimum of 20 ft. from private land boundaries
1. Pile diameter shall not exceed 20 feet. Some bucking of logs may be required.
1. Nothing shall protrude more than 5 feet outside of the perimeter of a pile.
1. Piles shall not be placed on large or tall stumps, down logs greater than 12 inches (small end diameter), or large rocks.
1. Piles shall not be constructed in roads, ditches, meadows, grass “scablands” or channel bottoms.
1. Piles shall contain minimal amounts of soil or rocks.
