About this file
This is a bid table and attachment document for a state and local contract opportunity (Bid 27008HCF) for the Clark County School District in Nevada to procure computers and accessories. The solicitation encompasses six lots containing multiple line items across desktop computers, all-in-one computers, mini PCs, workstations, laptops, monitors, docking stations, and balance of line items. Lot 1 includes 3,000 standard desktop units, 3,000 enhanced desktop units, 7,000 standard all-in-one computers, 1,000 enhanced all-in-one computers, 300 standard mini PCs, and 100 enhanced mini PCs. Lot 2 specifies 1,000 CADD workstations, 400 video editing and coding towers, and 100 video rendering towers. Lot 3 comprises 1,000 student laptops, 2,800 standard laptops, 1,500 enhanced laptops, 600 compact laptops, and 1,000 ultra laptops. Lot 4 includes 12,000 twenty-two inch monitors, 800 twenty-four inch monitors, 1,000 twenty-seven inch monitors, and 100 thirty-two inch monitors. Lot 5 specifies 6,000 docking stations with USB-C connectivity and multiple video and USB port capabilities. The document does not specify response dates, due dates, site visits, bidder's meetings, award dates, or contract terms.
The bid table includes detailed technical specifications for each item category, including processor requirements (ranging from entry-level Intel i3/Ryzen 3 to Intel i7/Ryzen 7 processors), RAM specifications (8GB to 32GB DDR5), storage configurations (256GB to 1TB NVMe SSD), and connectivity standards (Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.0, USB 3.1 and 3.2 ports, HDMI and DisplayPort). The document contains internal threaded comments discussing USB specification concerns, potential use of Standards of Care agreements to reduce upfront costs, monitor connectivity requirements, and VESA mount compatibility for mini PC units. The file references a catalog with manufacturer model numbers for various items and indicates consideration for flexibility in specifications to ensure bidder participation. No pricing, warranty terms, funding amounts, set-asides, or contract duration information is provided in this attachment.

USB requirements need to be more specific. 2x USB 3.2 may result in getting USB 3.2 Gen 1x1 which would share the 5GB bandwidth between both ports. (https://tripplite.eaton.com/products/usb-connectivity-types-standards) Also, in regards to the AIOs that ask for USB 3.2 w/ PD and Video. Would it be better to just ask for Thunderbolt ports, or USB4 (however, I'm not solid on whether or not PD is required on that spec)? I don't know what that would do for pricing but it would use a standard built for those requirements and would make it easier to find compatible devices that work.
Reply:
I'm honestly considering changing it to 3.0+ or newer. No one makes newer devices with older USB port specifications so it is marginally self regulating. We need to spec low and work up, not spec high and force them not to bid because they didn't make minimum specs Reply:
Understood! Just keep in mind that everything is 3.2 now. There's no more 3.0 or 3.1, so asking for 3.2 is fine as long as you don't care what speeds or bandwidth you're getting.

2nd Monitor would connect via HDMI/DP but a third connecting over the USB C would require an additional cable. I'm assuming the site would be responsible for purchasing that. We might want to consider getting a confirmed compatible cable in the catalog as well.

two monitors is my standard requirement now that a third display is not needed for an IFP.

I'm assuming the AIO screen would constitute as the first monitor. If my assumption is correct, then why ask for DP/PD capabilities on the USB Connection?

USB C: Front, Back or doesn't matter?
Doesn't matter. The specs on this are going to be a lot more generic
Are we open to SOC's to save on costs up front? Sustainability would depend on the Bond Refresh because outside of the warranty, repair costs would be detrimental and any part failure would more than likely result in a device replacement.
