About this file
This attachment outlines heat protection safety requirements for the Construction of Lauder Stormwater Detention Basin (Compartment 2) project being executed for the Harris County Flood Control District in Texas under CDBG-DR/GLO funding. The Prime Contractor must incorporate comprehensive weather-related safety provisions into the project Safety Plan to protect workers from heat-related illnesses, cold-related illnesses, and other adverse weather conditions. When temperatures or heat index values exceed 90 degrees Fahrenheit, the contractor must implement a project-specific Heat Awareness Plan that includes provisions for worker acclimatization, water availability, rest periods, and shade.
The contractor's acceptance of these heat protection safety requirements is mandatory, with acknowledgment required at the time of bid submission through signature on the Bid Acknowledgement form. During extended periods of adverse weather conditions, the Prime Contractor has discretion to provide additional accommodations to workers as deemed necessary to ensure safety and welfare on the job site.
