About this file
This is a Bid Bond Form from the City of Owensboro, Kentucky, for the Ben Hawes Driving Range Bays construction project. The bid bond serves as a guarantee that the contractor submitting a bid will enter into a contract with the city if selected as the successful bidder. The bond ensures the city's protection by requiring the contractor to post financial security demonstrating their commitment to the project and their ability to perform the work. The form establishes the principal (contractor), the obligee (City of Owensboro), and the surety (bonding company) as the three parties to the bond agreement. The bond amount is tied to the bid amount submitted for the 5-bay driving range building construction project at Ben Hawes Golf Course.
The bid bond form specifies the conditions under which the surety becomes liable, including the contractor's failure to execute a contract award or failure to provide required performance bonds if selected. The form typically requires the surety to be a company licensed and authorized to conduct business in Kentucky. The bond must remain valid through the bid opening period and any subsequent contract execution phase. As a standard bonding requirement for public construction projects in Kentucky, the bid bond protects the City of Owensboro's interests by ensuring that qualified bidders are committed to their proposals and capable of performing the work if awarded the contract.
