About this file
This is an Addendum #1 issued by R.S. Scott Associates, Inc. for the Alcona Community Schools reroofing project in Alpena and Lincoln, Michigan, dated March 19, 2019. The addendum modifies the original plans and specifications for reroofing work at an elementary school and a sugar shack facility. Key modifications include changes to warranty requirements, with the manufacturer's extended warranty now limited to the elementary school only, and the addition of a five-year contractor guarantee for maintaining roofing and flashing in watertight condition post-completion. The addendum clarifies soffit work specifications at the elementary school, specifying that only recessed lighting should be removed and replaced while surface-mounted lighting and electrical receptacle covers are to be removed and reinstalled. Large 13 3/8" x 54" grilles are to be cleaned and adjusted only, while smaller 10" x 24" grilles require removal and replacement.
Additional specifications address valley construction requirements prohibiting open valleys in favor of cut valleys, gutter and downspout installation over the east entrance to the library totaling 30 linear feet, and fascia installation requirements using screws for wood sub-fascia and matching nails for metal fascia. The sugar shack specifications require removal of existing exposed roofing under lean-to porches with new ice and water shield, drip edge, and shingle installation. For roof sections with 2:12 slope, shingles must be installed per manufacturer's instructions with ice and water shield extending two feet inside the exterior wall face. The addendum references Owens Corning Duration and GAF Technical Advisory instructions as acceptable standards, with alternative manufacturers permitted if they offer 2:12 slope installation options excluding felt-based alternatives.
