About this file

This document is a technical specification section (08710) for Door Hardware for the Orange County Public Works Administration Building, detailing comprehensive requirements for door hardware installation. The specification covers commercial door hardware for swinging doors, including hinges, locks, exit devices, closers, thresholds, and weatherstripping, with a focus on meeting Florida Product Approval standards and compliance with various building and safety codes. The document provides detailed requirements for manufacturers, materials, installation methods, and performance standards, with specific emphasis on hurricane-rated components, accessibility requirements, and system integration.

The specification mandates strict quality control, including BHMA Grade 1 standards for hardware, Florida-specific product approvals, and comprehensive warranty provisions (three years for most components, with five-year warranties for specific items like electromagnetic locks and exit devices). Manufacturers must provide detailed submittal documentation, including product data, shop drawings, and certification of fire-rated hardware. The specification also requires coordination with electrical systems, access control, and security systems, and includes specific requirements for keying systems, with all lock cylinders to be furnished in Schlage restricted keyways and coordinated with the Owner's existing master key system.
