About this file
This document is a technical specification section (08 44 13) for Glazed Aluminum Curtainwalls for the Orange County Public Works Administration Building in Florida. The specification outlines detailed requirements for architectural aluminum curtain wall systems, including perimeter trims, stools, break metal soffits, accessories, and installation standards. The project involves installing high-performance curtain walls with specific performance requirements, including wind load resistance, water infiltration prevention, air leakage control, and hurricane impact mitigation. The specified curtain wall system must meet Florida Building Code standards, with a preferred manufacturer of YKK AP America and their YHC 300 OG Hurricane Impact and Blast Mitigating Curtain Wall system.
The specification includes extensive technical requirements for materials, including aluminum extrusions with at least 50% recycled content, specific alloy and temper specifications, and detailed performance criteria such as thermal transmittance, condensation resistance, and sound transmission characteristics. The project requires a 10-year warranty from the manufacturer, with additional 20-year warranties for finishes and joint sealants. Post-construction requirements include an infrared scan of the curtain wall system between three to six months after final completion, to be performed by a third-party vendor and transmitted to the owner. The documentation must meet the Infraspection Institute's standards for infrared façade inspection, ensuring long-term quality and performance of the installed curtain wall system.
