SECTION C - DESCRIPTION/SPECIFICATIONS/STATEMENT OF WORK
C.1 OVERVIEW / BACKGROUND:
The Library seeks an experienced audio-visual design firm to create video content for Culture Homegrown: Reflections from the American Folklife Center (“Culture Homegrown”) in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the American Folklife Center (AFC). The exhibition will showcase a wide array of items from the Library’s archives and programs that reflect diverse communities’ cultural traditions, stories, and experiences.
The Audio Visual (AV) produced content shall consist of one introductory video to be shown in the entryway of the exhibit and video clips to be shown on the four video stations located in the exhibit casework.
The intro video will be 2-3 minutes in length and shown on a 55” 4k monitor Sony Bravia Professional Display, Model FW-55BZ40L with external speakers, embedded in an introductory wall located at the entrance to the exhibition.
The exhibit video stations will showcase videos from the Library’s archive. Each station shall feature no more than 5 video clips of approximately 2-3 minutes in length each that will be selected via a touch screen menu. Video playback and touch screen interaction shall be programmed on Library provided Brightsign media players and playback will be via Library provided 1080p capacitive touch displays and mono audio headsets, Molitor VIA or similar 32ohm impedance handsets mounted on exhibit casework. Volume will not be adjustable by visitors.
Casework and wall components design and fabrication, as well as the AV equipment and media integration will be provided by the Library. Contractor shall provide equipment for in-studio mixing and testing of produced content, which includes a 4k reference monitor and stereo speakers. The Library will provide a reference media player and display for prototyping the exhibit video touchscreen menu if necessary.

“the traditional expressive culture shared within the various groups in the United States: familial, ethnic, occupational, religious, regional; expressive culture includes a wide range of creative and symbolic forms such as custom, belief, technical skill, language, literature, art, architecture, music, play, dance, drama, ritual, pageantry, handicraft; these expressions are mainly learned orally, by imitation, or in performance, and are generally maintained without benefit of formal instruction or institutional direction”
