Attachment J12 – Sample Layout and Content of Library Notices and Print Products
Please note: The following is a description of current practice. It is for information purposes only and is subject to change. The Library acknowledges that current practice may be impacted by the outcome of the Requirements Analysis and Conceptual Solution Design objectives in LCAP Task Order 1.
Charge Slips The library has two types of charges, external and internal, which have different printed slips. The LC logo is configured in the printer settings and is generated at the time of printing. The message at the bottom is different depending on the pass and is reviewed by U.S. Capitol Police stationed at exits to permit a patron to take a book outside the Library.
1. External:
2. Internal: (please note that the scannable bar code is no longer used on the slip)
Print Labels Currently, staff also produce and print various labels (e.g., spine) for materials using locally-developed software applications that read metadata (SQL queries via Open Database Connectivity (ODBC)) from holdings records (e.g., field 852) and item records (e.g., enumeration).
Call / Routing Slips Call or routing slips are also printed as part of the retrieval staff’s fulfillment process. The messages that print on the call slip vary depending on the print queue. The scannable barcode for both the request ID and barcode is a must. Congressional call slips differ from this and require specific additional information.
Suspended Account E-mail Sample text of suspended account e-mail to patron for overdue external materials is provided below:
